New Zealand's Champion Open White Wine Is Crowned
November 17, 2019
New Zealand Champion Open White Wine has been crowned - and it's Seifried Estate Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2019! Read all about the win and the Seifried family’s reaction via a Stuff article.
Join us in congratulating the hard working Seifried family on this massive achievement. The trophy announcement at the The New Zealand Wine of the Year™ 2019 Awards Saturday night takes this individual wine's trophy haul to three (to add to the gold and silver medals), as it also picked up Champion Sauvignon Blanc and Best Wine: Nelson. Significantly, the Open division is categorised as being accessible to consumers both here in New Zealand and around the world.
A deserved win and acknowledgement of hard work. It's a great finish to a week of wins for this family, with international competitions awarding their Winemakers Collection Nelson Sweet Agnes Riesling 2018 with Best Dessert Wine trophy and 2019 Aotea Nelson Sauvignon Blanc achieving Best of Show New Zealand white - just to name a small few! You can read about these and other regional winery wins here.
Seifried Estate aren't the only ones winning awards and making excellent wine in Nelson Tasman NZ but this impressive win significantly helps lift the profile of the small but disproportionately awarded Nelson wine region. The outstanding product being produced here is extraordinary - a regional New Zealand success story worth sharing.
