Sheltered by hills to the East, South & West, this family owned vineyard enjoys high sunshine hours and a moderating coastal climate on unirrigated clay gravel soils of Upper Moutere in Nelson, New Zealand

It is owned by Ian Bathgate, his wife Jeanne and two sons from the U.K. Ian has been a long-time wine enthusiast, having collected wine since he was young.

There are around 17 hectares of vines, half planted to Sauvignon Blanc and the remainder in approximately equal parts to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Our Logo: Everywhere on the vineyard you will see New Zealand Fantails (Maori name, Pīwakawaka). These friendly little birds hop around, chattering to you, as you work in the vines. It seemed only right that they should also appear on our labels.
